Well, I bought GMod today, and, a few months ago, I wanted to buy it anyway, because I found it so awesome and all, but now I'm more... conscious, and I wanna know: what can I REALLY do with GMod? I know, I can make some physics machines, import models, make some weird animations, but what else? For example, can I export the animations (probably not)? Can I use Portal models to make animations and maps?

Thanks

You can use Portal models and whatnot. You can't really export animations you make elsewhere because there's nothing to record the animations with (you can, however, import animations if I recall correctly). Its really just a toy; not particularly useful in mapping since it can't handle brushes and the way it handles physics props and the like is nothing short of clumsy. Also, there's not really a way to save it into the bsp.

Its fun, but not useful in any way besides testing the limits of the engine. We also play it sometimes on Friday Game Night.

Some people use it to create comics and machinima, while most simply play around for a while with physics props, slapping together buildings and such just for fun.

I hear server play can be entertaining. There's RolePlay servers if that's your thing, or you can spacebuild, or play Trouble in Terrorist Town, a gamemode requiring CS:S where players try to figure out which among them is the killer.

Ok, I played the game for the first time yesterday, and it's awesome! It's hard to learn all the keys and features in the first contact, but I loved it. Also, how do you agree when you'll play certain games at fridays, or what games you'll play? Because now I have, at least, 1 game that I can play at fridays with you
