I made a simple geodome instance made of 5 of the geodome_4096 models as prop dynamics, which are all pieced together with no leaks whatsoever and fit into my map fine. However, when I load it into another map, two of the five prop_dynamic geodome pieces do not appear and I can see the void behind them. It is extremely wierd.

You could use the default instance? Despite it having the occasional lighting issue.

Yeah I tried changing the parts in the default instance to prop_dynamics and changing nothing else, but it still had the same problem...

I had issues with the stock instance so I collapsed it to my map and set all the models "lighing Origin" to point to an info_lighting. See the map in my signature for an example.

I think Valve solves this using -staticproplighting. There's a nice tutorial on how to use it here.

It has nothing to do with the lightning... it's just that two of the parts of the five don't appear when I set them to light well with prop_dynamic.... should I use prop_dynamic_ovveride?

You should be using a prop_static, not a prop_dynamic. You could change the lighting origin with the info_lighting entity to fix some lighting issues with prop_static, use info_target with prop_dynamic entities.

I was talking about this, (should have made myself clearer.)

I want the lighting to be normalized though with prop_dynamics... however, two of the five don't show up... how do I get them to show up... I can see the void behind tem.

Make 100% sure their origins do not leak, or hidden by the world brushwork. The origins can be Identified by the 1Blu, 1green, and, 1red lines that meet at 1 point.

Wait, about the -staticproplighting thing, you don't have to mess with any of the $ junk now if you use final compile. That's a nice addition to the Portal 2 Hammer...

Edit: (Assuming that's why you don't want to use it.)

Should I post the map?
