Ok
I've made a new folder in the SOUNDS folder that is exactly the same name as the map.

Now, I put a .wav file in there... and.... It won't show up in ambient generic sound browsing folder!

I did reload the sounds.

Where is my wav file??

EDIT:
Ah crud, I put this in off topic instead of mapping...
Fixed. -Hober

nope, it wont show up in the list. you'll have to manually type in the location.

Of course it should show up in the list... how lame it would be if not.
Are you sure you're browsing the RAW SOUNDS and not GAME SOUNDS ?
And are you sure you're using the right folder ? It's the SOUND folder (without an 's') in the Steam\steamapps\accountname\portal\portal dir.

Oh.... Hmm.. checks yes, you're right. "sound" without an s, and you have to have "Raw sounds" selected or it wont show up. I've always just typed it in manually.
