What texture is used to make the frames of the glass?

And usually how wide?

You know, there's no much more than a hundred textures used in Portal, and if you type the word "portal" in the second text field of the texture browser, you get all the textures used in portal. I think it could help you.

Then, what are you talking about ?
A glass pane is as wide as necessary, the thickness however should be around 1 or 2 units. But if you do things correctly, you'll only have to texture one side of the glass pane and the other side will automatically be textured too. Then the pane would just be 0 unit thick, because of the fact it's represented by a unique face, textured on its both sides.

I'm not sure about that but it seems that the glass brush has to be a func_brush and not a func_detail, otherwise the material $nocull won't work, just like refractive glass. Correct me if I'm wrong...

dude.

I've always use PORTAL as the keyword.

and by how wide, I mean...

Usually how big is it?
I don't want length...

But how big usually is it?

Well
the second one isn't important.

I can't find the glass frame in the textures!

basicly

I dont know where it is.

Glass frame is called plastic

I believe

Plastic is this plastic-looking, white texture (not the comlete, shining white from those holes you find in some test chambers)

NO DAMNIT, STOP saying stuff without knowing what you're talking about. The frame texture is plastic/plasticwall003a. You can easily find it by putting in Portal in the keyword box, makes finding portal textures much easier. The brush is 16 units wide.

If you're referring to the bottom and top parts of the frames, they are 4 units wide and are plastic/plasticwall004a.

Ok, now please refrain from calling me an idiot, thanks.
English is not my native language, I just misunderstood "frame" and "pane", next time, be mature and point it out instead of being insulting.

Atlantisrobo, the Source SDK came with an example map. It is located in your "\SteamApps*username*\sourcesdk_content\portal\mapsrc\" folder. It has examples of the windows, and quite a few other things.

Nyk018, he wasn't to know that you weren't a native English speaker. He was just pointing out that all the advice given so far had nothing to do with the question at hand.

Yeah I know, but thanks for reminding me.

I completely forgot about that!

Anyway:
Here's what I did so far. Only took me 1 hour and a half.

Thanks to:
Alexanderpas for the Waking Up scene.

If you aren't sure about the answer to a question, don't post saying you think. Make some bullshit thread in the Off Topic board if you want to increase your post count so I can warn/ban with impunity.

Atlantisrobo - This is a sassy forum, but there's a line between sass and being a moron. You're walking it.
