how to install maps?

Hello..
How can I download a custom portal 2 map, and play it on my computer? I need a guide..! 
I once tried to open a map, and all went great, and It open the portal 2 game, my then it said it invalid? I have a original portal 2 game? Shall I but the map in a special folder or want? Help plz.?
