I just lost my whole work?
So the question is: did I really lose everything or there's any way to recover it? I think unpacking the last compiled bsp may help but I really wanna know if there's any way to recover the most recent work...
Thanks in advance!
You can decompile BSPs with BSPsource or similar tools, but they won't give you a perfect recreation, some textures and brushes might be slightly different, and all instances will be expanded.
Make sure the file size is greater than 0 so that you know there's actually stuff in it.

Yeah, that was the first thing that came into my head but there's no file with the name of my map in there at all

There's also the .vmx file in the same location as the map, it's the version prior to the current saved one. Failing that (and provided the vmf isn't actually empty) you might be able to fix it, as they are plain text files.srs bsnss wrote:
I've had this before. Corrupted vmf. The current instance will not work, however there are usually 5 .vmx files either in your sdk_content/maps folder (or wherever your map was) or, like iWork said, in C:\HammerAutosave. Just change .vmx to .vmf and you're set.

I also tried that, but the map is still empty (and I have only one .vmx). Even though it says the file is 3.184KB large, and the decompiled bsp is smaller than it. So there's the thing.
I think the only way is using the decompiled version and correcting everything that BSPSource screws up.
I feel sorry for myself and this project, I was really hoping that I was going to be able to finish it before college starts (which is tomorrow
)
Anyway, thank you for the replies!
