I'm planning to make an adaption of the advanced chambers, called the impossible chambers.
Do I just have to remake valves maps entirely from scratch or is there a way to decompile the maps?

As I understand it, decompiling is only good for education. Decompiling, tweaking, and recompiling a map will make it pretty shitty, especially if done repeatedly.

The only shitty thing about recompiled maps is that the creator doesn't deserve dick-all for doing it. That, and they'd probably take a banhammer to the teeth if posted in the database, as it has been mentioned many times on this site.

One time I had to decompile one of my own maps cause I messed up pretty bad on my vmf file and could not reload the file. Vmex also screws up maps by adding info_overlay_something and making every entity have a "hammerid" to it.

We're not starting another moral question of whether or not decompiling is right or wrong.

hanging_rope, yes you would have to decompile the Valve maps. Decide whether or not that makes you a terrible person on your own.
