EDIT: I take that back, p2p got it working but apparently models are black and it lags.
Leave it to VALVe to break hammer. Again.

The irony is this happens right alongside the editor. Noone I know of can open it past the splash screen.EDIT: I take that back, p2p got it working but apparently models are black and it lags.
Thanks for the heads up!
Usually, a broken hammer means an update is yet to come. Its not the new vbsp, vrad, and vvis by any means, so maybe its prep for the tools to be out of beta.
Valve clearly wants everyone to use the editor from now on.
In all seriousness, I really hate how they seem to break SOMETHING with literally EVERY update Valve pushes out.

They would not be Valve if they did not do that. Also, Hammer is nothing but a outdated map editing software that has nothing but patches applied to it. I don't think they even know how it works anymore. I have not heard any word from Mike D in a long time...
Looks like I will not be mapping (Or even opening Steam!) today. Just to be clear tho, this only effects the Portal 2 tools, if I'm right. So Portal mappers may still map for the original.
Download and extract this to something like common/portal 2/bin_old - DO NOT OVERRIDE, IT WILL BREAK PORTAL 2. Copy your current bin folder to something like bin_new.
When you want to use hammer, rename bin_old to bin. When you want to test maps or play portal 2, switch it back and rename bin_new to bin.
It's a bit annoying but at least you can use hammer.
Side note: the old one doesn't include the updated vbsp.exe or portal2.fgd, so you might want to copy those over from your new bin folder.
