i'm trying to put some dramatic lighting in my map.
though when i have a nice light_spot casting a shadow, it seems to very unevenly shade all the brushes.

Is there a way to fix it so that it is lighted evenly?

Lower the lightmap scale of the surfaces in question. Make sure you don't go overboard though, and you DEFINITELY don't want to do this to every surface in your map.

it solved it a littlebit, but i was actually talking about the problem with the brush left of the metal grate getting a good exposure, while those above/under/left get underexposed, even though they are on the same plane

it is also happening to some objects in the same room:

This is fixable with -staticproplighting. If you compile in the advanced settings with Final HDR and LDR (slow) on it should automatically apply this.
