I am newer than most mappers and I have a short question...Can I copy a map from the Portl game and edit it? And by the way, they should make a forum for newer mappers

You should never release content that has been directly copied from an official portal map. The only cases you should ever use stuff from an official portal map are as follows:

• If you're looking up how to do something
• To make a prefab
• To get the general layout for an area so you can change it enough to be hardly recognizable as that area

In most cases its better to just make your own stuff and avoid that all together, unless of course you are making a prefab, in which case you need to change the names and textures of stuff anyway.
