Competition, 6 days left!

That's right folks, you have 6 days to finish your map and submit it to the contest section for this years competition. If you are interested in seeing what people are working on: see the Contest WIP page. For now here is some screenshots of work in progress:

New Staff

Congratulations to UsCobra11 and HMW on becoming staff!
UsCobra agreed to take control of all the media side of TWP and we just thought HMW deserved to be one seeing as people on the forum actually thought he was.

Indeed! he completely deserves that honour from all points of view!!! (apart from what ppl think or don't)... I sincerely think he's the best mapper in the world (hmmm... more correctly: a source engine expert, apart from other engines, and computing, and scripting... and... "don't the hell know what more!!"... ), and not just that, he spreads his knowledge here (and there...) helping a damn lot to everyone, and even trying to adjust his knowledge and his words to make himself understood by any person he's speaking to (which is a gift).

I thought I saw both of them hit green at some point a while ago, thought I might have missed something. But here it is, so congratulations, both of you!

About the pictures, though, you missed a couple pretty nice shots. But okay. Clearly, though, that second to last is so beautifull, it's totally going to win!

Thanks for the congratulations! Can't wait to start judging those maps, some look amazing!

@USCobra11: Congratulations man. Sorry I didn't mentioned anything because I focussed in HMW due to my passion for his work, but even though I don't know you much, I must admit that the latest review of maps was absolutely brilliant , and I expect to have more and more coming from you in next roundups!

One of those screenshots has me totally insecure now.

Mine has to be done by the end of today, I'm going away tomorrow. :s I've been on a 9AM-2AM schedule to finish this, with about two hours of breaks in the middle, its killing me.

Well, I'm out of the competition I bet.

There was a lightning storm here last night, and my PC was still plugged in. (Turned off by the way.) The lightning broke my computer by overheating the power grid of my village, and now I can't access it anymore. I hope the map - and all of my stuff with it - is still salvageable, probably is seeing as how the harddrive isn't toasted as far as I can tell.

(I'm typing this message on my sisters laptop bye the way.)

Aaanyhow, I probably won't be able to access hammer before the end of the competition or soon after, so good luck to the rest of you! (You now have a chance, at least. )

That's awful. I hope you can recover stuff from your hard drive at least.

FourthReaper, those are damn news, my friend. I'm so sorry to hear that and I almost can't believe it yet! I wish you good luck with recovering your data back... and I wish you do before Sunday and submit at least what you have time to make by then!

Man, that sucks so bad.

However, as long as the hard drive controller isn't broken, you should be able to get your data off of there.

My HDD also went bad 3 day ago. Luckily (?) I'm not entering the contest so it doesn't matter, and I only lost some non-important file (WD 1.5TB, and at 0.5T free space it suddenly started to write verry slowly or not at all, then said write error, hdd full + some lost file with chkdsk). This is why I usually store my most important things online and on pendrive too (vmfs, not-saved pics, mails, programming, etc...)
