CTE: Photonic Texture Pack
By: Colossal
Difficulty: Other

AS SEEN IN: PHOTONIC (created by P0rtalplayer)

Ever get tired of putting Portals on white surfaces? Ever look at dark surfaces in envy of the lack of Portalability? Is Portalability even a word?

Who cares! With this texture pack, you can now create maps with a completely new theme! Leave Aperture behind and make a map in this totally non-canon texture pack!

Warning: publishing a map without proper credit or listing me as a contributor may result in removal of your file and/or your nose.

Don't have any maps planned myself in this style, but I hope to see people who use it. The metalic sheen on the light-colored panels and the bump/normal/whatever mapping on the dark ones keeps some continuity with the original color scheme.

Somewhat related, I've been remixing Photonic's music to be more interesting, less annoying, and a bit more in the style of Portal 2's stuff; I might make a similar release for use in replacing PTI music somehow or another. (that is to say, it'd be dynamic and scripted and shit)

This is really great! I don't have anything planned to do with this quite yet but I'm sure I'll think of something sooner or later.

I do have a problem with where I put the textures in order for them to work, I put the files in this order:

*materials/photonic_texture_pack/materials/photonic *

And it's showing up as pink checkerboards! Do you know how ugly test chambers are when they're all pink and black!? Please help me as soon as humanly possible- if not faster!

It should just be materials/photonic.

Oh I see, I tried that already but apparently I had to close Hammer and re-open it for it to show up as an existing texture. Thanks!
