I know i know,

I think everyone here likes to see maps Klick, or picturs of maps ( Klick ) , Or other things.

But, for example. A Car forum. I'm (in this case you) showing the other guys, how a car with wheels looks like. With a picture. Now i make another thread, now i post a picture with a car with 2 wheels. Now i make a new thread "How do i open the door, maybe i should read the manual, but i prefer to ask in the forum". (In this case, please read the vdc, because you ask things, things you'll learn in the vdc, or beginner tutorials). and now i post a picture with a car, with 1 wheel.

Why are the pictures boring to the other people? Because everybody knows how a car looks like with wheels. And with 3 wheels. with 2. with 1. and without any wheel.

So i dont want to "attack" you, because you said that youre 'beginning' and new to hammer. thats okay.
Maybe you post pictures that may be interesting for the people.
And I also think it's okay if you ask things that are shown on other sites, but maybe you really should view any tutorial or read the vdc. Because if you do not even know how you select only one side of a brush, it would be stupid if you ask now, for example, tomorrow how a light works. and the next day ask how a relay works.
I hope I could help you a little to orient you. and sry for my language skills.
But I think with a little time you'll make great maps.

EDIT: So i dont think that you know nothing, but: Here are some things, you maybe can read, that will help a lot:

Tobbell, honestly, could you be a little more nice to this person? He just started with Hammer about a week ago as far as I'm concerned.

However, Sphere, he is right- you aren't really showing something new, and I think that once you're really confident with Hammer you'll be able to post things really cool. I'm glad that you have switched from PTI and Beemod (no offense to BenVlodgi) to Hammer, and once you're very good with Hammer we'll all like to see what you can do.

Where did i said that i want nothing seeing from his projects/maps? I just want to show him that pictures like his isnt a reason to start a new thread, maybe you understood me a little bit wrong, maybe because of my translation. But I am 'for' beginners, and not against them. I like it that people like him start with hammer, and i like it to help them. I do not think it was rude. ^^ I mean, i also was some time a beginner, like everyone.

I like how we're combating random threads with off topic post discussion in those threads.
If you think about it really hard it makes perfect sense

Hate to break it to you dude, but everything you're showing here has been done before, and people just generally aren't interested in lame screenshots of hammer. My suggestion: look at tophattwaffle's and solarchronus's videos on YouTube. They have good tutorials for both gameplay and aesthetics. Then you can showcase your map in the map showcasing thread using an ingame screenshot with good lighting.

Eh, the Hammer screen is still better than 90% of the crap on the Workshop. It's really awesome to see someone actually bothering to learn Hammer instead of wandering around saying "it's too hard for me!" I say to you Sphere: keep it going! But this screen is still kinda random.

Sometimes I think it would have been better that Valve would never have made ??the editor.
Otherwise the Editor is very good to fast test something planned, Puzzles.

Its a little bit sad, because more people who like portal, would try to map in Hammer, when there would be no pti.
The pti editor is causing, that there are sometimes good maps, but nobody will see it, because this map is hided under 500.000 Pti maps..

EDIT: Back to the theme. @Sphere, Maybe you have some other pictures of your map in the screen? It also looks like you try to make a little "story". Hm, look forward how you keep up your 'project'. For the wall texture on the right, a little tip: click on the texture tool (Click on the block with the blue, orange and green coloured sides). Select the texture on the walls, and click on the window under "Justify" at the "B" and the "L" (Or "R"). Magic!

I completely agree. The PTI mapper is okay if you just do it for fun once in a while, but if you consider yourself a serious mapper an dont know hammer, I wouldn't approve of that. Plus, to rub in the quality level of PTI, look at the VERY first map ever published to the workshop. Go ahead: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=620&browsesort=mostrecent&browsefilter=mostrecent&p=10341

I'm on the last page on most recent, and it's in the lower right corner. Go ahead and play it. It's painful

The problem with PTI is that people think it's a mapmaker and not a puzzle maker, so they build lots of tedious rooms and beg RADELITE for mods used in BEE2 for every single thing, and they make panels activated with triggers which are "reconstructing" and use stylechanger to make their map more "visual". (I'm not blaming anyone who uses stylechanger for fun, it's more people who make "professional" maps).

So, good job with getting used to hammer, but if you want to post screenshots, use the showcasting thread. (And watch the videos mentioned for the !number time, because we're not going to be able to help with every single error).

I see, maps like this are really everywhere.
But thats also a funny (or sad?) thing, "first test in the Workshop - Unsolvable".

What I find unfortunate is that Portal 2 isn't much easy to use to make maps that focus more on navigation than puzzles. I tried to resemble TopHATTwaffle's new CS:GO Arctic map's environment, but the first problem I had was that I didn't manage to make a brush tree as shown in the video.

Well, I made this duck blue because I'd never seen a blue duck before and I wanted to see one.
