Heya there,

Whilst having a look at some of the commands in Portal 2 for use in the console, I came across one in which I am still trying to figure out why they used it at all.

portal2_portal_width

and also

portal2_square_portal

Anyone have any idea about why they used these?

If you turn square portals on you can resize the portals. It's buggy, don't bother with it. It changes the portal itself, particles stay the same.

I know what it does lol, as I have spent enough time testing it out.

What I was asking, was why they used it?

My guess would be is that it was something VALVe was messing around with before linked portal doors were implemented as a proper entity. Just a guess.

I believe it is used for the Hydra glove thing, which allows for resizing of cubes and Portals
