Problems with Portal Funneling?

Has anybody else had problems with portal funneling hindering the ability to solve a puzzle? I've got this fling set up where you shoot out a slanted portal once, then shoot on the ground and it should shoot you higher onto a ledge. Now, I've found it's pretty easy to do WITHOUT portal funneling. But when it's on, instead of shooting the player "higher" it just shoots them faster towards the portal already on the ground. And it's a good deal away from the first portal. It seems to make the jump more difficult (impossible) than it really should be. Has anybody else experienced similar problems?
By the way, hi this is my first post and i'm making a map. hooray.

Welcome to TWP! It's always nice to see a new face around here.

And yes, it is unfortunate that portal funneling can essentially break a number of flings/puzzles. In some cases you can correct this problem by messing around with your geometry to try and get "acceptable" angles so that the negative affect is limited, but other than that, I'm not sure what can be done.

I suppose you could have a text message come up when the map is first started that reads like, "For best results please turn off portal funneling in the options menu."

Yea that's what i was thinking. Just put a big note in the map description to turn off portal funneling, or in the game like you said.
