Honestly with a userbase like thinkingwithportals, which probably has a good share of skilled portal players, I think this one deserves more posts than the other version, so here's a post.
I shudder to think to try intense mode, maybe when I'm feeling pretty masochistic.
I wonder, how did you make these? Did you start with this one, or intense? Or did you plan 3 difficulties from the start?
It's funny that the first one got on the quickplay radar and now gathered over 500 subscribers and appears to be popular for a short while. If that was a stand alone release I would have to be ashamed of myself, but as an introduction to the second map I thought it would be fine and people would quickly solve it in under five minutes to move on to the next map. At least there is a little bit of spillover visible, a few people continue to play after the first easy one.
The idea pretty much started with what can be seen now here in Advanced. I could not decide if speed gel should play a role and I added and removed it several times until I cloned the maps and the one with speed gel evolved into the Intense version. Overcoming a certain 'gazelle leap' problem took a good amount of time.
The main focus was on Intense, a challenge for the very motivated players, while Advanced should be challenging enough for the mainstream audience without causing frustration. Then I thought of a fun map I once played Deja Vu and inspired by that I added the easy map by removing the main challenge from Advanced and adjusting the maps to be almost 100 % identical by design.
edit: btw. if you think this one deserves more posts than the other one you could give this one a (better) rating. wouldn't hurt.
Tbh, I think this is beyond the capabilities of most workshop users, judging by the easyness of most popular maps, but don't let me stop you.
