This was going to be a Hammer map, but then Hammer crashed and I lost the file, so I just forgot about it.

Yeah, that was my biggest regret with the map. I wish there was something I could do to hold them in place, but alas

Also, this map was just a PTI map with some sprucing up, so that's why the worksmanship isn't exactly amazing. Though I'll make sure I'll keep in mind the things you mentioned, for when I'm making Hammer maps (dynamic fizzler, etc.).
