Questions thread - Gregoric

Hi there!
Let me create such thread, I will surely have dozens of various questions regarding map creation. Started playing with the Hammer and PeTi recently and tried to start doing something more than the Puzzle maker allows us. So far, I succeded in exporting from PeTi to Hammer, messing with all the Hammer's tools and running custom, Hammer-edited map.
Now, I wanted to add my custom created texture to the game. Used PS to make 256x256 32-bit TGA file, then used the VTF editor to export both VTF and VMF files. Used hammer to add them, then tried to compile the map and this is what I got.

LoadPortals: couldn't read e:\gry\steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\sdk_content\maps\mapy\druga.prt
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Greg

That's weird. Isn't name.prt a portalfile? You should be able to delete it without problems, then recompile.

A missing prt file is likely caused by a leak in your map. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... ding_leaks

If your texture has transparency it cannot seal your map, causing leaks and a failed compile. You can only use transparent textures inside your room or as decals/overlays

Okay, thanks. The texture itself looked weird when I was looking at it in Hammer. It wasn't transparent visually, but the textures behind it showed up for miliseconds (like I had set several brushes on themselves). It seems I had set the transparency in some of the previous applications, gotta fix that - but I'll find out on my own
