Raw Sounds

I have a question about raw sounds. Do people need the Authoring Tools in order to hear them? I remember one time using raw wav. file sounds in a map and some people couldn't hear them.

Can't use Pakrat. To be more specific, the sounds weren't custom, they were already in the game. I KNOW some people heard it while others did not.

I used ambient_generic, as for the sound I don't remember.

Ambient_generic is very buggy, try to use other sound controller entity

What other sound control entity can use raw wav. files?
Edit: Come on, this is important. If people that have Authoring Tools can only hear Raw wav. files it would be nice to know.

Ambient generic should be what you use to play a sound. Did you mean a soundscape? Env_message and env_soundscape can also play raw .wav files.

I know that, but I once got feedback on a map in which some people couldn't hear music and others could. I was using a raw wav. file. I was playing the map with a friend (he was hosting the game) and when I played with him, I couldn't hear the music either although I could hear it when playtesting. I'm thinking people with the Authoring Tools can only hear it.

Sounds you choose in Hammer are always hearable except the other players dont have them or the soundscript (would not affect raw) is written different.

I'm talking about using "raw Portal 2 sounds" NOT custom sounds. Please be more specific. Are you saying people without the Portal 2 Authoring Tools can't hear the raw sound?

Everyone who has Portal 2 the game got all sounds. If they can't hear them maybe their volume is to low? I don't know but for me it seems like there is no game problem.
