It was suggested recently that we put other kinds of portal-themed maps in the database, e.g. minecraft, tf2, etc. There's some opposition to the idea so I made this poll.

As long as they're Portal-themed I suggest allow any game-maps. I assume that is option Yes, All Maps, or should I choose Other?

Yep. The assumption on a portal-themed site is that the maps are portal-related. If/when this passes, the moderators can have a meeting to discuss the criteria for being portal-related.

All maps, but perhaps add a way for users to self-filter the ones shown to them.

If we go with all the maps, I would still prefer the 'community spotlight' to be Portal maps only...

I agree. Also, I'd have the search feature default to Portal/2 maps only with an option to add all. The others can still show up on the newest list, etc; I just feel like if somebody wants to browse, there should be like two buttons: "Browse [portal/2 maps]", and "Browse all" or something.

I completely agree. all spotlight maps should remain portal maps.
I would say, perhaps a separate spotlight for external maps, but on reflection, I cannot see how that'd work well.

Well, now that the poll is ended, and "Yes, all maps" won, there's one more question: How will you guys make about non-portal files? I mean, will you moderate, add filters while uploading, add customizable content? Because I'll finish that Minecraft-Portal map and upload here in January 1st, and I pretend to upload custom content together (like images and texture pack).

When I get back from vacation I'll add a couple new categories to the file upload form, under "Miscellaneous"
