SimCity or Sim Games
Posted Feb 26, 2013
SimCity (2013) releases in a week! Anybody else excited or am I the only person with good taste in video games?

Nope, I'm looking forward to it too, although I'll probably be not getting it for a while. Real Life is getting in the way

Totally understandable. I was going to get the new Bioshock instead (fps have more of a play-it-and-forget-it model of play that means you can basically ignore it for a while after finishing the campaign while still getting the same experience) because I don't have a huge amount of time to throw at games right now, but SimCity was actually cheaper (through amazon anyway).

I like how it looks but honestly I could never get into Sim games. Except the Urbz. But that game was stupid.

Tilt shift is lovely looking, but I haven't really gotten into the sim-city style games and installing Origin on my computer doesn't sound very appealing.

I played the beta and liked some stuff, but there were some things that I wasn't too thrilled about. I think I'll wait for some reviews and even then I likely won't pay full price. It's pretty expensive, and I still am having plenty of fun with Simcity 4.

Which betas did you play? The first one was really limited. The second one was a lot more fun (even if the hour limit was in place) and then the last one it looks like they're opening up properly (tomorrow night).

I did the first one, so if it's more expanded then that's good news. Are the maps still as small as they were?

The first beta had probably the smallest lot to work with (the size seems to vary rather than having defined 'large,' 'small,' or 'medium' pre-sized squares) but they don't get a whole lot bigger (and when they're much bigger there's also usually a mountain or something in it). You can make arguments on both sides of a bigger or smaller tile (see: Will Wright). Otherwise, its pretty cool and I'm looking forward to the final test tonight.

Double bubble posting trouble.
I just played the beta. It was fantabulismic; multiplayer is awesome: playing with strangers is a bit annoying because people will just randomly get up and leave or go play another city but with people you know it could be a lot more fun and even with randoms I had a good time and built a pretty awesome city.
