Ignition is my fourth map and the idea was to break from the "as hard as possible" program and make something a little more accessible. That wasn't totally successful because it still turned out to be quite a difficult puzzle. It's not as hard as some of my previous maps however.
Full solution video is: here
If you manage to solve it, you might like to try the challenge version: solve it again by only pressing the spark button once, and without using the horizontal wall portal in the funnel room.
Many thanks to Xtreger for playtesting this map from the early stages.
I hope you enjoy it.
v1.1: fixed a minor portal-bump problem for the first cube. also rendered without HDR for improved visibility.
v1.2: made the death field pit near the exit deeper to block some unintended solutions.
v1.3: fix to prevent shooting a portal from the lightbridge
v1.4: fix for crashing bug

Nope, sorry. :p
I'm not into this timer and fast-portaling stuff.
Just a short note (the only thing I noticed, because I didn't really play the map): You can lose your first redirection-cube if you throw it into the upper room (at least I think so). So a button to get a new one would come in handy.

My opinion is little bit different ^^ I like that timer and fast portaling stuff. After nearly 3 hours I managed how to cross the river in funnel room, but laser is off and cubes are trapped in middle room, so my solution is probably wrong Anyway, I like this puzzle just as your other maps, because it can't be finished in one evening, at least by me. I'll give it another try tomorrow, today I gave up

Nice one grey! I see you and Xtreger really like crazy laser angles
After 1 1/2 h I need a break! All this geometrical stuff is making me dizzy. I'm in the funnel room with 5 cubes and was able to activate all catchers. I've three cubes inside the funnel so I can switch between the catchers. But now I'm stuck.
Btw is it intended that I can shoot through the tiny glasshole by standing on a cube on the bridge?
I'll try to find a solution tomorrow.

I can't wait to test this but it will have to wait for another day because I don't have much time now and I think this might take a while. I will try this later though and I will give you feedback then.

Awww I couldn't stop myself and played it again. Dude that is so sick! This is your best map in my opinion. Very creative useage of the funnels and so many little dirty tricks. I'll try to make a video of my solution. This might take some time because the lasers are hard to setup. Big 5/5 from me! Well done.

@Szieve and Senf: the first room doesn't require "timing" or "fast portaling"
@Jacu and marKiu: thanks for the kind words. It's still worth it to map, even if only a few people "get it". Can't wait to see the video.

Welcome back, Gray Lord of Difficulty. I'm about 25 minutes into this, and I have both cubes in the first room. But I have stuff to do, so I'm going to give this a fresh start tomorow.

@Szieve and Senf: No quick portaling so far! I've had no trouble so far playing with a controller, but I have a long way to go, I'll bet.

Thanks KennKong I was kind of hoping you had your new pc by now?!
There are two or three bits later in the map which will be difficult on a controller unless you slow things down a bit. Feel free to do so, it's meant to be a logic puzzle but some dynamic bits were unavoidable.

I posted a very minor update. It fixes a problem where it was still possible to shoot a portal past the first fizzler. Also I compiled it with HDR switched off, mostly for the following spoilerish reason:
HDR
HDR causes the reflector cubes to be quite bright which makes it difficult to see through them. This type of aiming is kinda required here.

Wait, no "quick-portaling" in the first room? The way I started was to place portals so that the fizzler in front of the first cube dropper gets deactivated for a split second. Spamming the button and rapidly clicking to shoot a portal below the cube dropper finally worked. So this is not the intended idea?

Weird.. thought I'd made a post about this being awesome, but not having finished it yet.
Can't seem to find it on any thread now. To summarise:
-Map awesome
-Not finished
-Rogue post somewhere, can't find it.
=)

The first on-screen message still says "Version 1.0". Also, I can still get the cube the way I described:

@zivi7: that's how I do it but it's not the only way. I wouldn't really call that quick portaling by modern standards but you can avoid this altogether if you notice that the main laser sensor has a 1.5 second cooldown timer. Thanks for the note about the v1.0 message. It should be fixed now.

@sicklebrick: thanks! I'm sure marKiu has solved it more or less as intended but I hope he doesn't rush to post the video. He's too damn quick!

As far as I know, in the first part, there is one AND ONLY ONE move that requires "quick" portaling. Due to the abundant portalable surface provided, even that is not at all difficult.

And it's not like you have to quickly shoot a portal somewhere, then precisely aim somewhere else and shoot quickly again, etc. Everybody can easily manage...

I had no time to record yesterday so I was going to do it now...
You want me to wait with the upload? I could send you the video via pm because some parts felt very ninja and may be unintended.

I managed to get two cubes to the funnel room with pressing the spark button once. But that required very fast portalling^^. Which portal surface did you mean for the more advanced solution? Could you send me a screenshot?

And as usual with me and these kind of puzzles the first satisfying moment is followed by a looong time of not knowing how to proceed.

I can use the spark laser and the portals set up in an angle to deactive the second fizzler for a split second.
I can use one cube to keep the double laser running with the lower beam so that I'm free to use my portals. But then I'm lacking something to stack the second cube onto to activate the stairs laser receiver.

I'll starve to death in that chamber.

edit: And I can stack the cubes so that the top one fires the double laser receiver and the lower one can be carefully aimed somewhere. Not sure if this helps me yet.
