Weapons - Mod required?

Hello,

i'm thinking of a Single player campaign that is essentially a "normal" FPS where you actually shoot things, and some puzzles that would require the portal guns.

Now with my testing, there seem to be 2 problems:
- Portal does not seem to support weapons other than the portal gun. I've put a weapon_pistol on the ground and the player is able to pick it up, but i can not switch to it. Looking at the keyboard shortcuts, there is none. Do I have to make a mod with custom code to enable weapons?- Another thing: I've put a Zombie in a room, but it ignores portals. It does not fall through it, and it does not see me through the portal. Is there anything I can do?

If you give the player the HEV suit, then you should be able to switch through your weapons like in HL2.

As for the zombies and portals, you will have to wait untill the portal code is released before you can do things like that.

You can script an NPC to go through a portal, but it has to be set up in a very specific way, and is of limited use because of this.

Thanks, the HEV Suit did the trick.

For the portals, I think i'll plan the game so that the areas where the player has to use portals are not involving enemies directly to work around that.

Just to warn you: enemy combine can't shoot yet. You'll need the code for that also.

Also, with the HEV suit, you walk/run faster and jump higher and longer.
