Hello everybody!

I'm trying to create that wheatfield scene from the end of Portal 2 and so far I've tried a model from SFM (which crashes Portal 2, probably due to the high polys) and a sprite which I made. Neither produce results similar to the ending scene.

I have seen some mods with a wheat fields so I assume it can be done.

Thanks.

What I would do is create/import the texture used for the ground at the end, and then put it on a brush and then apply displacement to the top face. Then, if you don't want to do much work, create/import a texture of wheat (with transparency) and create a ton of env_sprites. That may create a lot of lag, though. You could also create a giant model that you place over everything. That could be pretty hard, but (i think) would be a lot more reliable. (Also I have no clue on how to make models.)

Sprites don't really work well as they lag thy game and hammer.

Also, I imported Rantis's models for wheatfields and even the small version LAGS.

Lags are problems you have with your network. I guess you just mean low fps. Then your graphics card is too bad. You can edit the detail.bsp file to render less detail sprites.
Just go into the .vmt of your ground texture, take a look on the %detailtype name and search for this in the detail.bsp. Then change the density value.

I remembered a video from Lamarr that looked really good and showed exactly what you wanted:

Maybe you can contact him. He's also sometimes, very rarely on this forum (username is "Lamarr").
