I really really want to know when it's coming out because I'm so excited about it!

(P.S, If I built an entire test chamber that could reconfigure itself with panels would anyone play it?)

Any answers about both of these things appreciated!

I predict 2012.
I heard Valve say it was 2012 somewhere I just didnt know where.
And just make a map, just make sure it looks good, people will play it, even if it's crappy (well under 25 people).

It's kinda needless to ask when it will be released. Valve has never released anything in time. They're the master of delay.

If we knew the answer to this question, we'd be very lucky to even know.

Okay, I have a slightly more answerable question for those skilled or lucky enough to get in the beta:

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best), how complete/polished would you say the map maker is at this point?

Who's rushing? Pipeline and I are just curious on how far it's along.

Edit: Nevermind, the other thread by Pipeline provided enough info from playtesters to sate my curiosity for now.

You ask this question assuming that we know what the feature complete/polish product is even going to be. It's not possible to rate it 1 to 10 (1 to 5 is a better scale, btw) when we don't know what 10 looks like.

It crashes less often then hammer...
As Djin said: you can't rush awesomeness.
As Sleeper said: we don't know what the final product will look like.

But yes; it is in beta this means that it is still being tested. Over the past couple of weeks there have been a lot of improvements. The stability has been improved a lot. There are still things on the suggestion list, on the bug list and on the improve list. We have no idea what will be done before the release, once again what sleeper said, we don't know what the final product will look like.

What we do know is that valve is carefully listening to our feedback and taking our bugs seriously. This means that the product is being improved in the beta. This is also why the group of beta testers is currently a small group of experienced mappers, because they will be more likely to spot bugs.

When the mapmaker is done it will be released and not before that. For the people who "want to test the map maker to see how awesome it is" you will most likely need to wait until it's released. But from what I've seen in the beta it'll be worth the wait.

TL;DR it's in beta no ETA yet.
