To end a level you need to add a point_clientcommand entity, and an env_fade (fade is optional). Name both of these. For the env_fade, set the duration to what you want.
You'll also need a trigger brush on the area you have to touch to end the level.

Tie the brush to a trigger_once (or trigger_multiple)

In the outputs, Make 2 outputs (only 1 if you don't have a fade) with OnStartTouch. For the target entity, choose the point_clientcommand for one, and the env_fade for the other output.

For point_clientcommand, set 'Target Input' to Command, and the parameter to disconnect.

For env_fade, set 'Target Input' to Fade.

Set the delay to whatever you want.

If you used a trigger_multiple, check the 'Fire Only Once' box.

Nice.

Only thing I can suggest, if someone hasn't, is that near the box dropper put some sort of sign left by a previous test subject. That could easily be done with 3 overlays to indicate that there was a companion cube in the game. I didn't think about it till after reading the thread, since I thought the box came down as a result of me hitting the trigger button the first time.

The overlays could be in the corner where you get the cube. One for the square sign of the companion cube. Then the other two would be one of the bloodstain pictures of a turret and an blood arrow pointing to the pool.

At least I hope that might help.

That's a good thought, thanks.

What I wound up doing is dropping the WCC by default. This is a n00b map and not much of a serious puzzle so it's best to leave it. I have some much more fun ideas to map out.

The cake ending is a real ending now, too, thanks appuxintator.

OP updated with the new link.

Oh, and I had to reformat and reinstall the SDK to get vrad running without crashing. It was time anyways..
