Description

In this map, you are just continuing to do your Portal puzzles, half awake, when you are suddenly plunged into the depths of the facility. Here, the lighting is poor, and you will have to analyze every bit of the puzzle to find your way through. First room http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r230/DarK_64/image1.jpg Please post any bugs! Thanks. PS: msleeper can you delete my other Blackout, I have no idea why I uploaded it twice...

Awesome, even though I think I did some unintended things... ^^

But you can get stuck in the room with tons of turrets, when you are in the middle of the room in that little box with the grid on top. When you are in there with the grid activated, there is no way out

btw I killed all the turrets manually. Was fun! No idea if there is a button for that job ^^

I found a bug in the map, when i put an excursion funnel and a hard light bridge together. I ended up stuck in the portal unable to move.

Hope this helped

That sounds more like an engine bug, does it? Does this only appear in this map?

btw try to set your portals to elsewhere then

The level's gameplay structure isn't bad, but the execution is poor. You have a network of chambers, but their difficulty stands in getting across them so you can't really backtrack or wander through. Each one has big and little problems, that summed up give off a sense of defeat.

Should be really fixed and smoothed, that's it. Definitely reworked to be smaller, because this was crazy:

Note that I actually made it through the first trap, because who doesn't jump when shot by bullets - Hong Kong style?

Yeah I was debating on whether you should or shouldn't be able to kill the turrets manually, and I thought: sure why not. After all, the turrets will cause some trouble, especially on the moving platform, so if you can kill them without dying yourself, that should be a plus.

First play-through video: http://www.xfire.com/video/47bd88/
For some reason I dont think it was supposed to be that short

I willfall on purpose this time and make another video.
EDIT: not gonna make another video because it would be too long.
Still havent figured it out, haha. Tried for about 1:30

Damn I've tried to fix that hundreds of times, yet apparently people can still make it...

I meant the size of the gap.

Killing them was fun. Killing them all was the first thing I did once I turned on the light so I could move freely through that space and see what was going on. If I couldn't kill them, moving through that space would have been very painful and not fun.

But if you go through safely, they shouldn't be a problem.

Unfortunately, this was my experience of the map. That big room was unpleasant! And it was not at all clear what any of the switches were doing. Needs floor/wall markers to show what the switches are doing.

In the end I did finish it but only because of my perfectionism!

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

I should have expected it with a name like Blackout but this is another map where the creator decided the best way to make it difficult was to make it pitch black. I got to the room with all the turrets before I gave up. I knocked over every turret manually, pushed every button I could find while fumbling around in the dark and still didn't get what I was supposed to do. If I could see I would keep trying but as it is, it's not worth the effort. And the really funny thing about this map is it would still be challenging if it were properly lit. Giving it poor lighting is the worst thing anyone could do to this or any other map. 2/5
