Description
This is the first map from a hopefully nice series. Here your main tools are the cubes. Do NOT underestimate them! If you solved the test chamber, a harder verison is also included, but start with the easy one, because it has more content. And send feedback! http://www.kephost.com/images4/2012/2/1 ... va8g5h.jpg http://www.kephost.com/images4/2012/2/1 ... 4wmesn.jpg

Thank you very much! Can you tell me about how much time it took?
I hope you will enjoy the followings, i think the next one will come out in a week or two at max.
About 20 minutes for the normal version, less for the harder one (because I knew what to do by then).
Did the easier one, cube stacking exercises as puzzles, not overly exciting solutions; just getting it done.... Oh yeah, if a cube is dropped in the goo it doesn't fizzle or respawn, could leave one short for stacking.. I saw a dropped cube down there when I fell in.
Thanks for mapping.
Thanks for testing, quatrus. I'm not sure i completely understand every word (i'm not english) but you can solve the chamber with 2 weighted and 2 reflective cubes, so if you accidentally throw a few weighted to the goo you still can solve it. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, i hope you will try the upcoming maps too and find them more interesting for your taste.
Oh and i almost forgot. There are more ways to solve the test, even with the harder version.

Because of this I actually found the harder map to be the easier one -- I spent way too long in the first map trying to use as many cubes as possible, and it wasn't until I finally looked to see what surfaces were on the same level as the laser receiver that I realized I only needed 3 total cubes (two redirection, one weighted storage).
Two reflective and one weighted? At the end it is enough but how did you get to the upper level using only two cubes? I think you need three for that task and one of the reflectives is beyond reach from down.
Well, sometimes too much opportunity can make difficult for people to see an easy solution. The first two test subjects, my brother and my friend found the harder version much more difficult so i didn't think it will be easier for some people. Maybe next time it will be different.
Thanks for the testing and the feedback. I hope you enjoyed the chamber.
Here is my blindrun for both maps. At least for the harder map I'm not sure if the solution is indended...

This was not the intended way. I couldn't imagine it can be done this way. Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot. Next time i will have a look at the doors, delays and stuff like that. Also, the box signs didn't work in this video, maybe there was too much light or i put the texture wrong in the vpk. Altough on my friends computer they worked somehow. Strange.
Anyway, here is one of the intended ways:

Thanks for testing and for the video. I hope you liked the map despite this tower-falling-problem you encountered.
When I did the easy version, I was thinking, "Why do I need 6 companion cubes?" I did it with just 3, and thought I could do it with 2. Then I went to the harder version, and was just doing the same thing.
This map featured some of my least favorite things: cube stacking, lasers in close quarters, jumping through portals with lasers (although that can be avoided) and jumping through portals near the edge of death.
The map is carefully laid out, very neatly done (no misaligned textures that I saw, for example) and has a valid, but very easy puzzle. You managed to avoid the usual mistakes made by many first mappers. Well done, even though I didn't like it. 4/5 from me.
Thanks for testing, KennKong. Personally i like cubes and lasers, but i figured it out many people don't. Still, you tried the harder verison, so it couldn't be that bad. Anyway, i hope someday i will come up with a map for your taste too.
Thanks for the feedback.
Here's the updated verison. Hopefully working textures, better fitting textures and protection from the Djinndrache-method : )
