This is my first ever attempt at mapping. I used this map to learn hammer. I hope you enjoy this not too hard puzzle and I would love to hear comments and suggestions. Enjoy!! Map Update#3 (Some gameplay changes)

Hi, I just played through the map and I have to say I have no idea how you intended each of the map objects to function. (What was the purpose of cube, faith plate, buttons, etc... ?) I don't know how you intended it to be solved, but the way I solved it was by first portaling the panels on the left wall and a panel across the acid rivery area. Then I grabbed the discouragement cube and jumped through my portal, getting me to the other side. I then used the cube to bring up the stairway (portal wall and ceiling) and jumped onto the stairway. I put the one cube on the second button, then took the other cube and put it on and off the first button. Then I just rode the blue funnel to victory.
I would hazard a guess that this is not the solution you intended, however... My advice would be try not to give the player more than he needs to complete the puzzle and try to make sure there aren't shortcuts to your puzzle (i.e. deviations from the intended solution that cut out significant portions of the puzzle).
I completed the level and find the portal surface above the water and the faith plate to be of no use. Maybe it's not your intended solution...
The first part was really easy in my opinion, getting the two bridges to appear i mean, i did everything it was suppose to be, though i noticed the shortcut too(shooting a portal on the wall on the left to get to the other side)
But my main problem was with the things you had to do once you crossed the bridges. The faith plate was completely for nothing except killing you maybe. The wall on the left that rotates does nothing good either except maybe saving your life after stepping on the faith plate. And that the button activates a very very small plate somewhere in the air should have someone been hinted at.
Also there was a small bug. In order to get to the exit the funnel needs to be blue, however once i activated the button on the island near the faith plate it became red again. I needed to step on the first funnel button again to turn it blue again.

It does lots of good...
when you place a block on that button to rotate the platform up to save you from the faith plate, it also rotates a platform in a tiny alcove way above the faith plate. If you portal on that, then faith plate and portal on the rotated platform it will fling you to the exit. So, yeah it does do some good. You also need to use it(vertically) to get either cube to the center platform with the faith plate to put on the button.

I believe he has got the correct intended solution. After reading the comments from others, I agree that there is a shortcut to solving the puzzle that I didnt think of while creating the puzzle
you can portal back to the platform with beam and just use the beam to the exit using the portal panel up high above the faith plate. Can you guys suggest a way to prevent user from doing that
Recorded my solution, which I think is the intended solution, but who knows.

video is unavailable.....
I am uploading the a recorded walkthrough of the map....will update the post when available.
Video is done uploading, its visible now.
Ok figured it out, you need 2 logic_branch entities and 1 logic_branch_listener entity.
one button when pressed turns logic_branch_1 setvalue to 1, when unpressed sets it to 0
the other button when pressed turns logic_branch_2 setvalue to 1 when unpressed sets it to 0
logic_branch_listener has "OnAllFalse" tractor beam > SetLinearForce <value for blue>
OnMixed > tractor_beam > SetLinearForce <value for orange>
And with it like this if either button is pressed or both buttons pressed it will be orange.

I see now
I know now why i didn't see this solution before abusing the glitch.
When i first saw the button the island i stepped on it(obviously to try it out) and saw that the wall right in front of me moved. So once i stepped off it i noticed it stayed up, so there was no need for me to check if anything else changed too. And so every method i tried using faith plate obviously failed and so i thought it was useless(see people, thats what happens when you don't use those fancy blue/yellow lights to show what buttons are actually doing!)

Good walkthrough...You have everything like I intended except how you brought the cube to the island but that method works as well...nice job!
edit doesnt the bg music play when you play the map?
nope, no music, just sfx.
yeah there's 2 or 3 ways to get the cubes to the island I found, I just liked that one cause it was the fastest I found.
if you have custom background music you may need to use a vpk to include the music.
I dont have custom music. I am just using the music from the included music and sounds. I have ambient generic entity with radius large enough to cover the whole map and I am using logic auto to start the music on map spawn...The music plays on my side...

Its a good map but it needs a checkpoint.
Maps don't need checkpoints. YOU need to quick save.
Man, that music was annoying... made the level feel more rough than it is. Puzzle's loose too. Keep tuning it, check those glasses and skybox possibly.

I disagree, I play to have fun and not for being your **tch. So you either make it comfortable, or I'll play a more skilled mapper's work.
I think the puzzle concept is quite good. It just needs a little chamber decorating. You could also add portal markers in the ceiling for easier targetting.

I had the same "bug" in the current map-version, downloaded at 2011-05-30 3:55pm.
I just downloaded and the big pink box in Tridente's video is still there. I believe to successfully update a map you have to give the uploaded file a different name, such as panelized-v1.2.zip
That one panel that pops up and stays up on the island threw me off too. I failed a couple times at the faith plate fling. Then I noticed the button makes the panel across the acid rotate as well. After getting the cube on the island button I tried the faith plate again but I had the other portal on the panel that pops up on the island thinking that might get me up to the exit...only after that fail did I realize there was a new panel way up in that dark part by the ceiling. So there needs to be an indication that the button moves three different panels along with reversing the funnel.

Thanks for the tip. It should be all good now (atleast on my computer it is).
Sorry about that guys!
I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:
