Description
A short map, trying out an idea thats been suggested a few times. It's got a time machine in it, which switches between the present and the future. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to extend it before the contest ends.

This is amazing i would really like to see you make some more of these levels as it adds a whole new element to portal i just love it 5/5 saw nothing wrong with it.
It's far too easy to remove the only cube from the game by taking it to the future and leaving it there. I also can't really rate a level that I could write a walkthrough for in one sentence: Use the time machine to get more cubes.
Edit: I didn't notice the reset button, never mind.
Heres a video of my play-through: http://www.xfire.com/video/47f7b9/
If it was solvable I couldnt figure it out :p
I really like the time machine though! Really awesome!

Oh I feel sorta dumb now. I guess I was traveling the wrong way :d

The time machine has a second button on the opposite side that resets everything to how it started.
Strange, somehow I managed to lose all my cubes, but anyways pretty nice idea. Keep it up.
Congratulations for the original idea, but I didn't find much logic in the puzzle. If I brought back my cube from 2015 to 1985, I would expect that going back to 2015 again at this point wouldn't make me find a third cube (I have it with me). That should have required at least 2014, but the game doesn't suggest so.
Maybe, check this other time traveling mod:

Yeah, it is a bit odd. I couldnt think of another way for it to work though, without interacting with yourself somehow. The idea was the future version always follows directly from how you leave the past, unfortunately that = infinite boxes. I was working on another puzzle which was more complicated and got around this by only giving you access to old boxes, but the map was already a maze of logic gates and I couldn't get it to work.
Well that was cute. It'd be interesting to see if you could make a more in depth puzzle with this concept.
just got on here to say I love the concept, want more of it, doesn't make total sense but still neat, alsopast box gets lost if left in the future, but I just read about the reset button, so no problem, but I would recommend making it more noticeable. However it seems everybody has covered this for you. Good work!
Cool idea but for some reason the starting elevator didn't work for me. I restarted the map a few times but every time the elevator just sat there and didn't move down to the destination. I had to noclip to the entrance. Have others had this problem?
Edit: False alarm... sort of. I'll copy and paste what I wrote in another thread.

In this case, I experimented a little more and found that the elevator works but only if it's the first map started after a game restart. If I start the game, play a map, then play paradox, the elevator won't work. It's a strange bug and I've only seen it here
It's not a huge problem, but it's something worth looking into once the competition is over.
I can't help but notice I didn't use a single portal in this level. :P
But great idea for a mechanic. I can see something similar to this working to create some pretty complex map puzzles (portal from past/future?), perhaps with a less rigid method of time-travel.
Apparently Gabe Newell didn't like the idea of recording oneself creating portals though, so I don't know how well this could combine with that "Prometheus" concept.
This Fucking Map is too cool man !!! Too easy but it give Vavle a big of big of big idea for Portal 3!
6/5 score
I Fall In Love With This
First Portal just break the space now it break the time ... AWESOME IDEA

This. 4/5 from me.
I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

I was kind of dumbfounded when I kept losing cubes and confused why cubes kept disappearing when left with the laser. Then I figured out it was a time machine. That's when I started going back and forth through time to see how many cubes I could stockpile. I had enough cubes to bend the laser around the time machine several times and still open the final door. Once you figure out it's a time machine the test becomes too short. It's also kind of weird to even have a portalgun in this test when it's completely unnecessary. But all in all I had fun with it. A great test and I hope to see this idea expanded on. 5/5
It's also possible to push the button and run out the door before it closes, leaving you trapped in that time. You might want to consider moving the button closer to the back or putting a button next to the door to open it.
