Description
Small two-room puzzle, though I may expand on it in the future. Puzzles are mostly of the cerebral kind, with only a tiny amount of fast portalwork required. Shouldn't be too challenging for experienced players; my first map so didn't want to make it too complex! Can be completed in around 3 minutes if the player knows what to do. Hope you enjoy it! v1.1 - Thanks to John11 for pointing out numerous flaws. Major changes in this version: - Floor in initial room no longer accepts portals (except for under the gel dropper) - Cubes no longer automatically respawn after getting fizzled - New route to fizzler shutdown button - Laser grid added on wall opposite lightbridge - a couple of portal surfaces added/moved to rework puzzles and accommodate changes

Nice little map. Maybe a bit too easy and both of the rooms seem to be a bit too big, but it was fun. A good first map.
Nice map but i find a bug

I remove blue light and this happens
Fun little map. Lots of ways to do it not as intended though.
For example, here's a least portal run with 5 portals used:

Cheers for the feedback guys!
Senf - glad you had fun with it. Yeah, it's a bit easy; hopefully I can add some challenge in v2.
Hobbax - I'd like to say I'll fix that but I honestly have no idea how - never saw it on any of my playtests. Did it go away if you portaled elsewhere?
John - haha, thanks, that's exactly the kind of video I was hoping for. The stuff in the second room seems easily fixable (by the way, if anyone could tell me how to stop the cubes constantly falling I'd be really grateful). I've got a couple of ideas on how to fix the first room, but I'll need to test them out....

If you're using the cube dropper instance I believe there is a property to "disable autorespawn." If you set that it shouldn't drop until the player pushes the button again.
I'll leave a review once I get the chance to actually play it.
I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

Updated to a new version - changed things up quite a bit to account for what I saw in John11's vid. Hopefully it'll be a bit more of a challenge this time round, or at least it'll be harder to solve it in unintended ways.
@Djinndrache - Cheers for uploading your vid! There's actually a sure-fire way to get that cube, and in the updated version you won't be able to get the other cube the way you did either...
EDIT: Haha, just noticed I accidentally messed up the indicator lights leading up to the panel. Will sort that out tomorrow - right now I need to sleep as I'm running a half-marathon tomorrow.
EDIT 2: Actually, it's totally buggered. Please don't download yet!
EDIT 3: Okay, had a major problem but have sorted it out now. Might need to polish a couple of things tomorrow but it should be totally playable as intended.

The changes you made aren't showing up when I download it. I read in another thread that you have to upload a file with a different name otherwise the old version is just retained. Could that be the problem?
@John: Sorry, obviously I'm new to the site and didn't really upload it properly - it seems I added the newer version to a drop down menu instead of replacing the old version as the 'current file'. Probably for the best, actually, because I had a fairly major design flaw in the original file I uploaded.
Anyway, it's all sorted now and should download correctly. Interested in seeing how many portals you can do it in now - I counted 23 as the minimum for the 'official' solution....

I've found a route to do it in 12 portals. It will take me a bit to execute and upload though.
John - guessing you might have done what I just did on a final test run - used the lightbridge to block both the cubes and bypass the final part of the puzzle. I just locked that out as an option in another mini-update (sorry for all the updates, next map I make I'll be sure to put in the WIP area for a while before releasing) but if there are any other routes you found I'll be interested in seeing them.
To be honest, I'm just going to leave it as finished in its present state regardless; I'd like to get working on some other stuff. This was my first map and I learned a lot making it, but I think it's time to stick a fork in it. Anyway, if you say it'll take some time to execute then I guess anything other than the aforementioned exploit is the kind of ninja stuff that I'm happy to leave in.

Yeah, you guessed my method for the 2nd room. It didn't actually take as long to execute as I thought. It took much longer to cut and upload the vid. Here's the vid:
RP1vFh5R4oI
I agree to just leave it as is. It's a great map and it's always nice to have some alternate solutions in my option.
You used 6 portals to get into the second room, right? Combining your way and one other minor exploit in that room (actually a little more obvious than yours) it should be possible in 4, actually. And did you just jump over the lasers?. Holy crap, I wouldn't have thought that possible!
Anyway, cheers for the vid, great stuff and you've been a fantastic playtester. I'll be sure to get you to blow some massive holes in the next map I create!

Yep that's what I did. I'm gonna have to go look for your 4 portal route now.
EDIT: I found a 3 portal route, but it's pretty hard to pull off. I can't seem to find any 4 portal route, but I think I did find the minor exploit you were talking about and I use it in my 3 portal route.
I used
1) 3 portals to get into the second room
2) 3 portals to get the cubes
3) 1 portal to finish.
So, in total, 7 portals.

Sorry about the audio, it isn't synced and I don't know why! (Its source recorder)
P.D: I've been seeing the method you used, john, and seems hard. Wouldn't it be easier as I have done? (Same portals)

You played v1 and not v1.1. Which part of which of my videos were you referring to? I was trying to complete it with the fewest number of portals possible, so some of the things I do are pretty difficult in order to use less portals.

Is the audio out of sync before you upload it to youtube? If so, try re-encoding the video with VirtualDub (it's free). In VirtualDub go to Video -> Framerate... -> select "Change so video and audio durations match". That fixed my audio issue when recording with Xfire.
Think: Thanks for playing! As John says, that's version 1 and a lot of those exploits have been removed in the update. I kind of wonder how many people got the cubes in the intended way in v1 - from what I've seen, not too many.... It's still just about possible to get them in an unintended way in v1.1, but it's now a lot more annoying.
John: Still can't work out how you get out of room 1 in three portals. My four was as follows:
1 and 2: on wall and under gel dropper to get to button using your method.
3: on wall of upper level (can also send some gel through to save laser-jumping shenanigans).
4: on bottom of shaft to make the fling.

Ahhh! That makes sense. Here's the 3 portal vid:

Since I like flings, I liked the first part of this map, even with the blue gel, which is my mortal enemy. But the second part seemed so random after turning off the fizzler.
Since noone seems to have found the solution I did, I went ahead and recorded a playthrough.

A lot less metal in the second room would help the looks. Otherwise, the looks were OK. The touchiness of the second part drags it down to 3/5 for me, because I had the right idea pretty quickly, then spent a long, frustrating time trying to get it to work. The video above is the second playthrough, when I knew the portal placement, and even so, I mercifully edited out many failed attempts.
