not sure I solved this right... I put a cube down then another cube on top of it, then when I removed the bottom cube the top cube actually floated in position...

I'll see if I can replicate.

Floating, you say? No glitches are required. Just keep in mind, that you're holding freaking portal gun, which you can use even on lasers.

I'm well aware of that, but I wasn't able to get position right normally, the laser came in right under the receptacle with blue as close to the floor and the other as close to the ceiling as possible. I've got a 1080p video I'm uploading with my solution.

I was able to do it without making the cube float, I was using 2 cubes in one spot (to go around the wall) when I was able to make the connection with 1, that would allow me to stack 2 cubes and not remove the bottom one. Will still post my glitched solution though when it finishes uploading to youtube.

Polished and well executed, retail quality. Only, I think the jumping puzzle might be easy to break. Here's how I did the lasers:

Funny, it's not ment to be that way. Not the one in the heights, at least. Those blocks next to Chamber panel should be black. Will fix it tomorrow.

I think I found the "intended" solution. which doesn't require stacking cubes at all, one laser has to enter a portal at an angle and then the portal is placed on the wall near the receptacle so it hits from the angle.

Possibly the intended solution

Yeah, that is the intended solution. I don't mind the one where you stack two cubes, however with the wall being painted over with black bricks next release, it's not going to be possible-

But thank you for taking so much time with your videos, I really appreciate it.

no problem, I'll do another one when you release so there will be a nice high quality one for the final version. Maybe I can find some other cool glitches I can exploit for crazy solutions.

If you blacken that wall, it will be easier to retroengineer the solution.

hmmmmm...

I'm running p2 on a mac, and there is no "addons" folder in the same directory as the maps folder.

but i put your file into such a folder, and portal 2 still didn't see it...

just out of curiosity why isn't it a .bsp like most of the others?

--

edit... ok i relaunched p2 and then it did see it O:-)

I didn't even need to enter the 2nd chamber.

I released last version of this map. Every solution (apart from glitching) is what was intended or allowed.

Enjoy.

When I go to download its still the 2.89 MB file of the previous version even through the thing says it should be 1.4mb...

Yes, for some reason... I can't upload newer version. The old version is the only thing that remains there.

I just don't understand it.

EDIT: Renaming the package helped, so now, there is final version available. Finaly.

No problems with anything. There was at least one techy fling in the way I got the cube. No stacking required - just a laser puzzle. Well done - thanks for creating.

Found a bit of a bug, unless you only care if all 3 requirements met once only once, not always: http://i.imgur.com/SrnDH.jpg

I solved this by holding up one of the cubes (not placing it down), so it struck me as odd.

Alright, was able to get it updated, I like the look of it now, more sinister with all the black.

I swear there is 1 cube less than there used to be... maybe I was just smoking crack when I was placing my blocks the first time though.

I know about this issue, Tim, but it's surprisingly intended (because... well... I don't think it's even possible to do it the other way around with logic gates). If you hold the last cube for the upper laser catcher, it doesn't matter, because you still have to use portal for it in the same way. I don't really want to go back to it.

Vadread, there were always 5 reflection cubes.

Figured as much, when I looked back at my video it didn't seem like any were missing, ah well. Nearly killed myself like 3 times on the lasers in the last video. Looking forward to your next one!

Damn, great map. I was dismayed, however, when I finally figured it out, that I could light up all 3 catchers, and the panels would go away. Then if I took away one of the catchers, I could still exit the level. So essentially I could stand on the button myself and just release it when the small room's catcher was lit. But apart from that, nice job.

I started playing custom maps and record me playing them. It's neither a perfect run nor do I have to have solved the map in the way it's meant to solve it. I play the maps "blind", that means I've never been in them before and play them for the very first time. I also give a little feedback for the map in the video description.

Maybe you are interested in the fact, that I played your map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fThNAeCtsMk

On my first play of this map I beat it without obtaining the solid cube from the fling room, but I did use all five lens cubes. I noticed the fling room and thought I would come back to it, but then I got the final door open and was finished before I realized it.

On my second play I finished it only using 4 of the 5 lens cubes and again I skipped getting the solid cube (I didn't know there was a solid cube in the fling room until I watched another player's video in this thread). I did it using the glitch that allows you to hit one laser catcher after the other quickly enough that the game thinks both are catching a laser. I wish I'd bothered to learn how to make a quick video of it.

Maybe I'll take some screenshots if someone wants to know what I did.

BTW, I thought glass windows allowed lasers to pass through them in Portal 2...?

That was exciting Nice atmospherics; everything looked really well-polished. I'm a bit confused as to why I'm not allowed to send lasers through glass, though at least it's made obvious by the lasers' original positions. I'd recommend blacking that wall out, since, though I like the look of it being glass, it's better to be consistent with the Portal universe.

Looking forward to the remaining 199

Since it's late and I was stacking the odd of solving this puzzle before bed, I decided right away I would start stacking cubes and see if I could come up with nine, which I did not of course. However, I bumped into my stack, and there hung up high was a cube. So the solution came very quickly, which I just now have read other posts is not the intented solution. Anywho, this puzzle was good. So keep thinking inside and outside of the box(es).

P.S. Since the laser cube can hang high one does not need the weighted cube.

I liked the map. Some design issues like doors sticking out of walls excessivly and stuff but other than that good.

My solution:
After redirecting all the lazers, i put the solid cube on top of button and the reflector on t op of solid. AFter portals placed so that lazer goes trhough reflector cube, laser ended up slightly low. I then picked up the reflector cube so that it hit the catcher and dropped it again. This however left the door area open and i walked to the end. Im not sure if the door was supposed to be left open after catchers stopped being activated or not.

(I created an addons folder in the same directory as the maps directory, but I realized that that's not what the readme actually meant for me to do. Can the folder be in either location?)

All in all, it was a fun map with a respectable difficulty for the lasers. I got the intended solution that Vandread83 had (well, close enough).

Nice map. Here's how I did the lasers without one of the reflectocubes.

Where is the bsp file?

I put the revelations.vpk file in the maps folder, then I put the addon folder with the revelations.vpk file in the map folder, then I put the revelations.vpk in the addon folder. Nothing! Out of the 53 maps I played, this is the first map I cannot run. Please help!

Same here. the game will not detect the vpk and i cannot load the map. i have loaded several other vpk files without problems, and tons of bsp files. First and only map i have not been able to load.

:EDIT: so i couldn't load it because of the recent dlc change, i loaded it now.

However, i appear to be stuck. I'm in the room where you get a cube after doing some jumps and cannot get back into the laser room.

I have a button close by but it doesn't open the door.

Have i broke the map?
