Please read this map uploading guide to ensure your upload will not get reported in future.

VMX files are not playable; you need to open your map in Hammer, press F9 and compile it , then upload the BSP file it creates. This applies for your other map also. I would recommend you read Lostprophetpunk's tutorial on how to upload maps, by the way.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

Reported the download as well. =P

Perhaps we are getting the end products of under-aged mapping here. Some of the people posting maps are probably less than eight years old.

Just because you have a genius son, satchmo, doesn't mean that they're all like that. I., for one, have no faith in our youngest generation (I'm part of it, but, uh, yeah.).

Touche. Although I am not part of the 'teen' generation seeing as I will be turning 21 near the end of the month. Kid's don't know how to have 'fun' these days...I mean 'fun' in the sense that there is no computer games, computer or mobile phones involved.

God I hope not.

The saddest part is, they don't even realise how bad they are; a few years ago, when I was eight (so that this post makes sense, I may as well tell you all now that I'm thirteen), I started using Photoshop to make art, and I thought it was at least above the average for my age then, but looking back on it now, it's like a terrorist bombed Sesame Stree (god, I hated that show) and I rendered the results. But then, that's how skills develop; I bet in a few years, I'll look back on my current map and throw up.

I have with Satchmo in the fact we are getting that kind of mapping in here. But however, when I first started mapping I had created a pretty shocking map when I look back now, as it consisted of two rooms, a place to fling, and an exit door. Then I started to learn about all of the elements in a Portal 2 map. Even now I am still learning and will continue to learn for years...as there is always something new around the corner. You just need to give it time.

Have to agree with you there Rubrica. I have now been using Photoshop for about 5 or 6 years now, as I didn't really have a pc when I was 8...I was too busy doing 'fun' stuff. I used to think bevelled text with a 10px outer glow was cool back when I started to use Photoshop. The first Photoshop I had was Photoshop 7, I now have CS 5.1 Extended.

Although when I was at college I did make this using Photoshop 5.5, as it was all they had in the room we had that day.

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

Also I'd like to say that I don't understand all the QQ on this thread. The map is short but not bad. If it's the first map it's actually pretty nice

Well, the last post (LostProphetPunk) was about 2-3 months ago, so I'd guess beecake made the BSP and nobody notice due to too much talk about 8 yr olds.
This is a short map, but also a good map.

A few tweaks are needed here. The portal surface in the floor has a trigger_hurt under it, make sure that only extends under the water. The faithplate has wildly different results depending on where you step on it, you should make sure it clears the overhang. The non-standard exit panel left a little white rectangle floating in space in front of me as I entered the elevator. Why not just a standard door?

Short and simple, but not bad. 3/5 from me.
