SP: Morality Evaluation

Description

My first map in Hammer. Really easy. V1.1: fixed some of the bugs listed on this topic. The exit door is still buged. I have no idea what went wrong. v1.2: fixed doors, elevators,box droppers. KNOWN ISSUES: there aren't droppers for the reflective cubes, some problem with the "via this input box". So I made tons of reflective cubes. Dont waste them.

Not completely terrible for a first hammer map, but there were a lot of things done wrong.

1. Misaligned textures
2. DON'T use vertex textures!!!
3. Glados quote doesn't really make sense
4. No frames around the glass
5. You can place portals on the lights
6. The glass lights were... just odd
7. The fizzler is misaligned
8. The entrance door, only one side closes

Everthing that UsCobra said plus:

- No indicator lights
- Laser cube can get stuck in the pipe you made
- Normal textures outside of the map (should be nodraw)
- Leak right above the entrance door
- The lighting is bad (I can't do proper lighting either xD)

This is pretty good for being your first map. But next time, before you release a map, play it through a bunch of times and when you can't find any more bugs have a playtester or two play it for you. They will probably find things that you didn't see

BTW: what are vertex textures?

textures with _vertex in it.
The short version: It's either lit or unlit and nothing between.
They are used for models only

NEVER use them on walls/floors/ceilings

Pretty good. not sure if I did completely as intended... Other than the previous posters, I found the exit door also only opens half, and the elevator is not there.. Fun playing .

Good for a first map. You had a nice little puzzle to solve which is a good base. Cleaning it up will come with more use and tips from the pros...

I played through this map as well, I think the normal p2 doors would fit better here, they're a lot easier to use and they don't have that weird white circle around it.
Also I could portal from one side to another through the glass, from the side where you entered to the exit, not the other way around.

I could also place my cube on the edge near the fizzler.
Laser cubes didn't respawn on killed

Other than that it's an ok start

I've seen this game before, but this one has a number of big blue ERORR signs in both rooms. No idea why...I'm guessing some of these error signs might be ledges that I can jump too...not sure. Any ideas?
