Speculation with portals

You could twist the pole, and move the pole on the x and y axis but you couldn't rotate it at an angle. Also, after re-thinking about it, the other "half" wouldn't rotate to the other direction.
twisting the pole wouldn't do jack. but if you placed the bottom portal at a slightly off angle you would start to spin; like. you ever try to do the terminal velocity setup... and have the bottom (or top for that matter) slightly askew? man you start spinning . the more askew the faster you start spinning

maybe you'd have to parent the pole (prop_physics) to itself.
... and make the game crash ^^

Here's another one. What would happen if you connected a 0 in a modified version of portal to a 0 in real life?
Tron.

Essentially rendering portal-tunneling useless because as soon as you attempted it you'd be come two rather seperate halves of mush

If you were to stand inside the portal, with your feet on the bottom of the portal itself, surely the wall you are standing on is infinitesimally small and if the gravity is down on both sides surely the downward force would just cut you in half like a highly efective piece of cheese wire?

interesting point. when they first came out with linoleum its strength was calculated to be several hundred pounds per square inch (can't remember the actual strength) and it was considered strong. but they noticed that there were small divots appearing in them, and people were like "WTF?".... short answer, High-Heels.... cuz when you put ALOT of weight on a SMALL surface... damage happens.... try putting 220lbs (me) on an infinitesimally small surface... CHEESED! but.. maybe... her heel springs help? i know. it really wouldn't matter WHAT you put there. anyweight or matterial at that small of a surface area would be sliced. but i just want to try to make up a bullshit excuse to make portal make sense.
Perhaps the portal edge has somekind of nuclear repulsion that repells everything regardless of its charge. This might explain the strange fire like effect seen at the edges
