It just doesn't make much sense for GLaDOS to have been a human. I can (barely) accept the theory about Cave using his family as test subjects, but when a human mind becomes so twisted as to need several different cores--including a morality core installed?

The same thing has actually happened (?) for Cave Johnson (Portal 2).

We can't assume this at all. We know next to nothing about portal 2, except it will have cave johnson's voice. It could be an old recording you find while exploring for all we know.

The script (quote from a future game) has surfaced:

Cave Johnson wrote:
Heck, suspended as this inky purgatorium I've got to do nothing but think.

So whatever else he could be other than an A.I.?

If I may...
There are a few points I'd like to try to clear up. The phrase used in the Portal 2 leak does lend itself toward Cave Johnson's state of mind being imprinted on a computer, but we cannot be sure; and also, just because this may have happened does not imply that GLaDOS is of the same origin. There's a good chance that any unfortunate results of the "Save Cave" (tentative name) project may have discouraged AS from continuing with human-minds-in-computer projects; they may have coded an AI from scratch--GLaDOS?--to avoid any problems (which obviously worked out well).

Actually, ignore what I said here.

Point me towards this portal 2 leak, please!

From what I remember, that "leaked" script was mostly thought to not be that important at all. I think I remember people saying that valve wouldn't release the actual script, or something like that.

Just what I recall.

I suppose, but it seems odd to release a fake script...even for Valve, really...

[1] Remember that we've figured out that Part 2 holds, so GLaDOS is actually Chell's mother and gave her a Companion Cube.

[2] There's no reason to say so, because "Save Cave" project is after GLaDOS project, because "notes.exe" doesn't mention any project to embrace Cave Johnson in a computer - not before 1986.

[1]What is said in Part 2 isn't necessarily true. GLaDOS may have just acted as though she loved Chell to keep her off her guard.
[2]Would you put information about the Save Cave project in a notes file in Cave's account? I know there's an entry about an untested AI being activated after the presumed time, but I'm sure GLaDOS could edit it...*

[1] Then why she forces herself all the way to A.I. Hell/Heaven?

[2] There's no other account telling any portion of the story.

[3] The "untested AI" is GLaDOS.

Yeah, i'm a bit late, but i think "Gladdys" may have been a previous name of GLaDOS, but VALVe decided to change it. Maybe "Aperture AI" may also have been a previous name - i don't know.

Who said she wants to die?
It seems also as the most obvious answer that Chell killed GLaDOS against GLaDOS' will.

[1]How does she force herself to hell/heaven for love of Chell?
[2]You can login with any username; that leads me to believe it's a sort of guest/public account (remember the "Apply" option). I would be hesitant to put a rather detailed timeline out to a public account...
[3]I know that.

He has a point. After all, the entire Cube, Clone, and Construct series is just speculation. Deep and investigated speculation, but still speculation.

Well,
GLaDOS is "still alive", and she's not happy about it, so she wanted to be killed. Period.

EDIT:

We are actually speculating too. It's like a discussion, but it's still a speculation.

When did she say she weren't happy about it?

The song itself is not happy. GLaDOS is just sarcastic.

The lyrics is happy. The music on the other hand is blues, and minor.
