I'd very much like to add this to my signature:

              .,-:;//;:=,
          . :H@@@MM@M#H/.,+%;,
       ,/X+ +M@@M@MM%=,-%HMMM@X/,
     -+@MM; $M@@MH+-,;XMMMM@MMMM@+-
    ;@M@@M- XM@X;. -+XXXXXHHH@M@M#@/.
  ,%MM@@MH ,@%=            .---=-=:=,.
  =@#@@@MX .,              -%HX$$%%%+;
 =-./@M@M$                  .;@MMMM@MM:
 X@/ -$MM/                    .+MM@@@M$
,@M@H: :@:                    . =X#@@@@-
,@@@MMX, .                    /H- ;@M@M=
.H@@@@M@+,                    %MM+..%#$.
 /MMMM@MMH/.                  XM@MH; =;
  /%+%$XHH@$=              , .H@@@@MX,
   .=--------.           -%H.,@@@@@MX,
   .%MM@@@HHHXX$$$%+- .:$MMX =M@@MM%.
     =XMMM@MM@MM#H;,-+HMM@M+ /MMMX=
       =%@M@M#@$-.=$@MM@@@M; %M%=
         ,:+$+-,/H#MMMMMMM@= =,
               =++%%%%+/:-.

But it needs more signatore space. Whaddaya say?

Yeah, no. Signature sizes are small for a reason, I don't think anyone wants to scroll past a wall of text just to read the forum. Trust me, it's better this way.

Way too large, try to make it a few lines of writing smaller.

Personally, I don't see the point of signatures. In the forum I'm writing, there are no signatures, but the user can add abstract fields to their profile for things like extra websites and such they would like to add.

It's a personalization thing, so that my posts and contributions to the forum stand apart from someone else's.

I thought avatars did that.

EDIT: That sounds... not right. Let me rephrase: I think avatars are better for that.

Avatars are just a single image as a sort of "face", where signatures are more of a "this is who I am, this is what I like, etc."

For example, my avatar is two drunken Combine Super Soldiers, which is hilarious. My signature has a randomized signature on the site that I made, and links to other sites I visit and/or run. It is a sort of "Like what I posted? Here's more" sort of thing, I guess.

Yeah, that's what I would say the profile is for. I don't want the "this is who I am" or "here's more" mixed among the forum's content. That should be on the user's page. The avatar will still be there to make the post stand out.

But you just said that signatures should be for linking to more.

At least he asked kindly. I can still remember kinkycuff, who had to show his affection of men.

In other news, I ought to change my signature one of these days. It's been the same for ages.

All three of his posts say the same thing, and they all bumped ancient threads. What's his deal?
