To me at least, my sig's bbcode is broken. I noticed this earlier but forgot to mention it.

edit: durp, gotta uncheck disable bbcode

edit2: is this sig too big?

Yeah that's way too big. Read the forum rules, max size is 500x150. I'm okay with the width as long as it doesn't stretch the forum layout, but 200px is way too high.

Ah ok, sorry I'll fix it asap.

EDIT: it's now only 150 pixels tall. let me know if it needs to be less wide.

Yeah. It's a lot less distracting.

My issue with really "tall" signatures is that all they do is increase the vertical height of the page while contributing nothing useful to it. Nobody wants to look at your 400px tall image every single time you post, you're just wearing out people's mouse wheel faster.

I don't mind signatures that are wider than the rules say, as long as it doesn't break the forum layout and look ugly.

I realize you're not referring to mine in particular, but I'd like to point out that it was only either 200 or 250 before, don't remember what I had it at exactly.

Oh, and in other forum layouts, 200-300 pixel tall sigs dont look quite as big.

Yes, and human psychology means that we put bigger things with bigger priority, so someone with a huge sig is going to distract everyone from the content of the page by making their subconsious think "THIS is more important than this text!!!"

It's not a matter of how big the signature "looks", it's just that having a 200 or 300 pixel high signature is insane. If there is a thread with 15 replies on the page, and all 15 people have 300px tall signatures, that's 4500px of completely wasted page space. The average viewer has a resolution of 1050px tall, so there are 4 full pages worth of scrolling needed, just because of people's signatures.

So like the rules say, I don't care how cool your signature looks, it doesn't need to be remotely that tall.
