Does the Java version not work for the Mac? Write once, run anywhere, right?

Errr, enter the right path then? I dunno, I'm not familiar with the patcher or how it works.

If I had to guess (i.e. when I dabbled with trying to write one of these), it probably reads it from the Windows Registry. So maybe the Java version won't work.

It should be possible for the Java version developer to detect the lack of a registry and read the Steam path from... uh... somewhere.

Or just let the user select the path altogether.

there is no way for me to put the correct path in without editing the .jar file and messing it up even more

I would post in the thread for the Java version and ask the author to either fix up whatever problem with running on a Mac, or allow some way for the user to manually select the path.

I have no idea. Whichever one you are using. I've never used them and I didn't write them. You should post in the thread for whichever one you are using.

Don't just say you found a solution. Tell us what it is, so that in two weeks when someone asks the same question, we can tell them to look here.

Just saying "a solution exists, but I'm not going to tell you what it is" is less than useless.

And, yes, this goes for every thread asking how to do something, not just this one.
