I've got an idea.Since we're a mapping site, why not do what we're best at?
We create an ad hoc tour map. We introduce the core character, and have him guide you around the "site." (an in-map imagining of it, maybe with random other cores as us)

Reepblue Core needs the BP symbol as it's eye 
Colossal Core must be like Space core but with blue cones :3
P0rtal Core is the only core capable of firing portals.
Camera Core should be stuck in the wall, looking at others via the camera system.
vanSulli Core should be calibrating turret vocal cords to ensure they can sing properly.
Omni Core should be at the Programming Language Translation, Creation and Deletion Centre, and leading it.
He should say cryptic messages.
EDIT: Grox Core can be Quinn: Loves plants, works in the Mapping department and is a bit quirky.

Seriously? I was thinking Camera should be more like a camera and Omega could be a flying pink core.

The point was everyone had to be cores though. A camera isn't a core

Nah I realized after you posted that I hadn't made it clear what I was thinking
If we're all cores, though, who is the guide? Grox has to be the plant-obsessed green sphere.

I like it. However, I think that most people will want to learn about the site quickly and without having to listen to anything or whatever. I think Colossal's idea for that was best, but that we should also have a map with a bunch of custom cores (whether as a video, a downloadable map, or both).

Speaking of sven, yh we could use that color scheme, and it'd make people have funny ideas too...
Plus Cam could say he was in Portal 2 Beta (the old beta)
