SITE TRANSFER PROCEDURES GO
Sad as I am to say it, the site just isn't getting the traffic we anticipated, or hoped it would based on what happened in the past. Thank you all who are left for sticking with us for this long, and I hope we will all stay in touch through the steam group.
The site will remain up until the next billing period, that is 8/15. At that point, I will downgrade the hosting (which means the database will have to go). The forums may remain up indefinitely, depending on whether or not I renew the domains come 2014.
Once again, I'm sad to see this go as mAI has been a big part of my life for years now, and leaving it just feels wrong. But this time, it's our own decision, and not the forced exile we experienced from mAL, so we have no one to blame but ourselves.
I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors, and hope your cakes are not falsehoods. It's been fun.[/strike:2tybqsm7]
Msleeper has graciously offered to host the entire site (database, forums, wiki and all) on her server cluster. What does that mean? Well, pretty much nothing, from your end. The site might go down for a little bit while we get everything transferred over. From our end, that means 1) we no longer pay for hosting, which is a good thing, and 2) msleeper owns the mAI and mAL domains (once we transfer them). Some of you may object to this, but it's certainly not a bad thing because it doesn't make sense to have to negotiate everything domain-related whenever we want to get anything done. And msleeper has assured me she doesn't have the time to manage two different sites anyway, so we retain full control, essentially.

this one hurts, but there are reasons, and I thank the mAI staff for all the work!
This was one of the best communities I've ever participated. It's so sad seeing that this have to end... But I DO need to say though that I really enjoyed it while I was participating. If more people could see this site it would surely be more active, since this is so funny and dynamic. I'll REALLY miss this site, specially it's users...

Maybe we can do another community sometime that's not Portal.
But if the forum can stay up, can we not simply use other hosting sites? ModDB would be a good one, but we could also use the steam workshop.
Is that possible?

I agree. Even if there isn't a download database we can still post links to our maps and such.

The part I'm saddest to lose is the old database. I've been crawling through that to find old maps and files I've lost.
Both databases have been backed up. After the shut down of the database, I'll try pulling some strings with P0p to get a "database" thread where you can download stuff. P0p is probably reading this. Hey.

If there is anywhere to put them as a median, I would be willing to upload each and every one individually to ModDB. Perhaps under a MyApertureInnovations group.
I did it for Minecraft for three years, I can do it for MaL/MaI :U
