I'm asking this, because I'm trying to make a VPK overide to put in new sounds and it doesn't change anything.
Do Portals In Portal 2 Have Exit Sounds?

I don't know about exit sounds specifically, but portals do make a sound when you cross between them.

There are entry and exit sounds. There are sounds in the game files for exit sounds, but apparently, you can't hear them in game.

No, I meant making DLC3. Not addons.

They're located in sounds/weapons/portalgun

Yeah, but they don't work ingame and neither do the stock sounds work in game.

They do work,if you partially enter one of them so exactly in the middle you can hear both sounds upon entering and exiting.
It only works for the player passing through though.

It's probably programmed to play one sound for high enter speeds and a set for enter/exit. Also I think each portal gas a different set of sounds depending on its color.

I know. I tried setting the other sounds names identical to the original ones, and a
I rebuilt cache and they still don't work.

Whoever missunderstood: EXIT sounds, not ENTRY.

for replacing things, what i've found to work best is this:
- go to portal2/update folder and open pak01_dir using gcfscape
- export the whole thing into a folder named pak01_dir in the same update folder
- put whatever replacements you want in your new pak01_dir folder, but keep names and structure exactly the same as the file you are replacing
- use portal2/bin/vpk.exe to turn your new pak01_dir folder into an actual vpk, and replace the original vpk with the one you just made
- run portal 2 and test it out. if it didn't work, then you may have to come back here and tell me everything you did in detail.

"scripts/game_sounds_weapons_portal.txt"
Necro, but this is what you probably want. It specifies what sound to play when the player exits a portal.
The portal exit specification is down near the bottom. I don't know if it will work, but theoretically, if you replace the path listed there it should fix it up.

Well, I tried that before a few times and it didn't work for some odd reason. I guess the best thing is to make a custom soundscript with different names and pack a modified weapon_portalgun.txt.
