Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by the Toxoplasma gondii parasite. It primarily infects cats, but it can infect humans too. Up to a third of the world's human population is estimated to carry the Toxoplasma gondii parasite.Though the immune system can keep this parasite at bay, it cannot kill it. Once a human gets the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, they will have it for the rest of their life. If, however, the immune system is compromised, then it can turn fatal.
