[P2][Fixed]Help about water portal emitters and selection
Well, water, i want to make like Blue Portals, that don't kill, but on portal 2 and destroy the cubes.
Also, i see some guy making a new selection on the hammer, that i would love to know (that will help a lot on my maps!) you can see he doing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJV1uHTy7S4 (skip to 3:50)
And i have a big problem whit portal emitters, i try looking for tutorials but there is none on the internet. I want to know how they can work, or what animation i need them (only options i got on triggers that might active them are setanimation [i don't know the animations] and how to select the color of the portal)
Really hope you guys can help, thanks
First off, The tool the guy was using in the video you saw was the "block tool". The block tool should be one of the first things you learn in hammer. It's used to create walls, floors, ceilings, trigger entities, and function entities. When you first create something with it, it will be a block, and you can tie it to an entity with Ctrl+T. In the tutorial you showed, he tied it to a trigger_catapult entity.
If you create a block with this tool in any sort of pit, and texture the top of the brush with the toxicslime002a texture (and the rest of the brush with a nodraw texture), you get water. This water will not kill you, nor fizzle any cubes. If you want to make the water fizzle cubes, you will want to create another brush/block that covers the surface of the water you have created. Press Ctrl+T to make it an entitie. Then make it a trigger_portal_cleanser entity. Under the 'Flags' tab for the portal cleanser, make sure the only thing checked is 'Physics Objects'.
Also, When you say that you are looking for a tutorial on portal emitters, if you are talking about auto portals, or prop_portals, I have actually made a pretty in-depth tutorial on those. You can take a look at it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9_WKBaB-fw
Finally, I don't know of any tutorials that focus on wires, but I believe that my good friend Arachnaphob has made a tutorial for creating a BTS style chamber, and he touches on creating wires near the end, so you might want to have a look at that: http://youtu.be/imAtUnSLXnw?t=29m14s
Also, it's no that what i mean when i say selection. If you look at the down left screen of the hammer in the video of the guy, you will see that the cubes change, so he can make a smaller trigger that can fit on the aerial faith plate, i want to know how to do that.
