I just created kind of a "birthday" map for a friend of mine. Pushing buttons you get the message step by step written on the wall: "Happy // Birth // day // <his name>".
The letters are white texture and you have to use them to get to the next button etc...
Now i was thinking it would be nice if the <name> would be variable so that various people can use that map to have some kind of nerdy birthday present for friends

As you don't need to make portals in the Name to go to the last platform, i was thinking that it could be solved with a big Display showing the "username" of the player.
I wanted to use a vgui_display_movie or something similar to it, to display this username...
but: with vgui_disply_movie and "Display Text" I don't get out any (prefixed) text. Also trying to manage it with a button and then "enable" or after it "set Display"... doesn't change anything.
(the vgui_display_movie entity has the right position, as it shows .bik movies!)
Also: is there a variable for the username or steam name etc?
Do I need to prepare a script for that? O.o
Do you got any other ideas to solve that problem? (also an name-input - option with a ingame textbox or something like a portal2 ingame terminal would be nice - trying to avoid the console)
Greets,
fou-rieux
ps: i don't want to show any text in the hud or player-screen. it really should be displayed/beamed at a big wall.
