This is the Portal 2 build you get through the Steam 4 Schools account.

Official VALVe sources:

The reason is that Steam checks for your PC ID or something and won't run the game because your PC doesn't have my PC ID.

Some of the files might be interesting for you, for example the Contraption Cube

There's no way to change the PC ID it checks for? It can't be hard-coded, otherwise it would only work on the computer it was compiled on.
