[WIP] The Omega Project

otherwise you have to use regular flat sky textures (which aren't that bad)

skyboxes are only usable if you are NOT using ANY portals (either player placed or game placed)

That's only for 3d skyboxes that it doesn't work; 2d skyboxes work fine.

any comments on the actual map so far?
I find the gameplay to be very 2-dimensional.

ZING!

.
Anyway, I'm sure we're all looking foreword to more screenshots! Keep up the good work.
please?
so don't worry about it and go finish your map
i REALLY do. (Removed spam -Doom)
x27 million
yeah.
edit: it would be kinda funny to see this guy go to war with glados in an insult contest
edit2: ill post some new pics soon
A few things I notice:
-
Is it just me, or is there something weird about that cube? It looks more 3D or something.
-
The fizzler looks kind of strange to, like there's some sort of other field across it. New gameplay mechanic, perhaps?
-
Your buttons have no indicator strips. I really, really hate buttons that don't have indicator strips.
-
Why would they have a window to the outside world right there in the test chamber? Seems like it might provide an escape rout - just fling a cube hard enough that the glass shatters (given the cold temperatures, that wouldn't be too hard), and run like hell.
-
Is Omega Labs a (likely top-secret) part of Aperture Labs, some kind of subsidiary research center, or a new force altogether? I'm guessing the first one, as your cube still bears the Aperture Logo... so what is the Omega Project?
This looks more promising with each new screen shot - keep them coming!
-
Its a custom skin i made for it
-
Yes it is a new mechanic

-I usually add indicator strips in the later stages of a map
-Think about it, would you really WANT to escape? its the middle of winter in the mountains of alaska... not exactly the best place you wanna be stuck in
-Yes, its basicly like a side company to aperture science, e.g. its run by aperture, shares aperture technology, but uses its own logo and location.
And the omega project is just the name of the map series

there's actually a prison (if not more than one (not sure)) in alaska... with no perimeter fence.. a buddy of mine used to work there.. anyway. they didn't see any point to building a fence. IF you escape... they don't even waste a bullet on you... you WILL die.
Anyway looks awesome so far, I love portal maps with more then normal test chambers.
