[WIP]Whacked Screenshots
The idea of the maps is to NOT be stuck within the confines of an aperture science lab. Outside, and where things dont make lots of sense. Different style of mapping, putting the player in different portal-based puzzles.
Here's a few screenshots:
Map 1:

Map 2:

Map 2 has more to it, but most of it is pretty dark, or very incomplete.
I dont think I'll ever get back to these maps, so if there's anybody out there willing to finish 'em for me, let me know. Make sure to point out what you've made already, so I can choose a good mapper to finish them up
Update:
Play map 1 here: dload.php?action=file&file_id=237
awesome!

I was going to link to a video of School's Out by Alice Cooper, but I was reminded of how ugly he is.

It's a work night...gotta wake up at 7am tomorrow
btw played this.. and its.... weird weird weird.. and i have no idea what to do in the cube but its got some neat and orriginal ideas. this seems more like a Design Showcase than a level. the kinda thing that you might not have "fun" or even enjoy "beating" but while/during play you'll be like "WOW!" or "KICK ASS!"
there were several "rooms" that had me doing that but ultimately towards the end i was like WTF?

lol, thanks
glad you atleast "enjoyed" the "level"
I found it to be fun, until I got to that weird cube
I just stopped there, because I had no clue what to do, and you can get out of the playing area very easily in that part
||I figured you wanted us to rotate the cube until it faced up, but inside there were a few problems with it, rotating rooms get stuck on the player and if you fell to the ground of the cube before you rotated you became stuck as its all metal
in the first room with the rotating portal platform on my first try I missed the second blue portal and I ended up inside the platform and there were 2 blue portals open and 2 orange (with one orange floating in the air)
You should include some fizzlers of some kind around the map, when I used the elevators I could go back and see the nodraw in the elevator shaft
in the room with the bridge I saw the spinning thing rotate around the bridge it looked interesting but idk what it was for.
and in the room with the clynder and pit (theres a hole in the cylinder for it) when I put a portal in the pit and jumped down I got caught on some invisable floor just before the portal and then I fell through the invisable floor (after a second or 2) ruining my velocity||
overall a very interesting map with some cool ideas, I'm glad you decided not to stick to the standard portal theme
The room with the spinning platform with all the portals is tricky.. the timing is VERY close....
the bridge room is just there to show "go thru field, something rotates" pretty straightforward...
Yeah, the cylinder room I have no idea whats causing that invisible floor. it only seems to happen after the room rotates once or twice. I spent many hours cursing and swearing trying to fix that.
cornontheCoD : A lot of the splotchy lights are just because the lighting isnt finished.
Also, thanks guys
. I realize you probably didnt even play my map, but I think its cool to see more rotating
I want to say: What the fuck.
The first time I played this map, I swear, I did not try to hack the system. This video is truely a reconstitution of the first time I played this map. Seriously, I'm honest: There is no indication on how we are supposed to play this map. The cube seems to be only a way to get the hole to the other side. I don't know what the walls in the cube are about. I don't even know if I completed the map. Because it ejects me to console. If I went wrong way, I am not the one to blame, because how the fuck am i supposed to know if I completed it or failed it if I get ejected into the console? If you guys say this map is awesome, please make a video on how I was actually supposed to play this map. There are portals we can't go through, invisible barriers... Please, tell me why this map is awesome. Of course I told myself WTF, but I'm sure it's not for the same reasons as you.
The video is a reconstitution of the first time I played the map. Please watch it and explain to me what I did do wrong.

You were doing fine until you got to the cube.... why did you jump down to the floor once you landed in the cube?
Because this is a reconstitution. Actually, the first time I played this map, I landed on the glowing ball in the center and I was like WTF, what should I do? And then the cube rotated, I landed, I placed the portal to the exit and hop, I'm out. Because i suppose out equals exit, as there is absolutely no indication of where to go. Then I saw the glass, and the portalagle bended floor, and I thought: "Hey, I made a breakable glass in one of my experiment maps for videos, so I suppose this is breakable glass, and so this is the exit".
