These look great, i'm no mapper myself but i'm looking forward to seeing them in a few maps coming up.

While looking at the cubes, I decided to record a few samples. It are simple lines of dialogue, I've recorded my own voice. They are unedited, so you are free to adjust them as you wish, as long as you credit me. Note that this is the first version, if the cubes are gonna change in the future, so are the samples.

I've tried to be as general as possible in these lines, so that they can be used in any situation. Also note that each cube has 2 samples; one telling its name, and one explaining its use.

Hot Cube.wav
"This red cube is the Aperture Science Weighted Hot Storage Cube."
Hot Cube 2.wav
"This cube features an internal heat source. Because of that, it is not advised to stay very long in it's near proximity."

Light Cube.wav
"This blue cube is the Aperture Science Light Storage Cube."
Light Cube 2.wav
"It has not been weighted, and because of that, it's mass is only 1/40th of the mass of a normal storage cube."

Heavy Cube.wav
"This green cube is the Aperture Science Overweighted Storage Cube."
Heavy Cube 2.wav
"It's mass is 2.5 times the mass of a normal storage cube. Because of that, you cannot lift it."

Push Cube.wav
"This grey cube is the Aperture Science Repulsion Cube."
Push Cube 2.wav
"This cube features an energy field, meaning it will repulse any other object touching it, including other storage cubes."

This is also ment as an experiment, to see if I could act as a voice actor for future projects. I've got a mic of quite good quality, not a headset or something, but an actual professional mic (with an on/off-switch, meaning it's not too professional). A Shure C608, if you want to know it.

This is just something I thought would be fun to do. If you don't like it, Kayaia, I'll change or even delete the samples.

Wow, those are great Rico.

Im going to play around with them in Soundbooth and Aucadity, to see if i can get a more GLaDOS feel to them.

I had a try at editing them and there working perfectly...but or maybe we've got 2 pretty big problems.

  1. Your not a women and so the end product sounds like a male GLaDOS
  2. Your not american and so your accent is quite prominent (or your the wrong kind of american or something)

If i can find somewhere to upload i'lll show you what it sounds like.
On a side note, i GLaDOS-ified 6 other voices and all of these got the robotic effect but yours didn't

I once heard an edited version of the first sample I put up here, and it sounded very female-like; also my accent wasn't very prominent.

It doesn't matter for my personal purposes; my MALCom is a male AI, and I don't care if he has a Dutch accent. That will only strengthen the vision of him being another AI, and not part of GLaDOS. But these samples aren't MALCom's, and because of that, I do understand it might be a problem.

I'll try putting up a more English accent when I update the samples.

Looks upward Sorry if offended you in anyway Rico.

But anyway, i spent a while and using TTS and such i made all of the lines into true GLaDOS's.

Very nice! I can hardly recognise my own voice! And they're very close to the actual GLaDOS. So close it gets creepy...

That is my voice, right?

Oh, I read straight over that line. I already found it to sound so weird...

It doesn't matter, I'll try putting up a different accent in the next update. As for my male voice, I can't help you with that, but that should be adjustable by editing programs.

Ricotez', if you would like to look, these are the 3 different version of your voice i went through before giving up.

Voice

I got pretty close to it but couldn't get it exactly right.

I'm probably going to look bad for asking this, but what folders do we put these cubes in?I like the ideas behind them a lot, but can't figure out what directory to put them in.

The file got corrupted and I had to manually remove it, and I guess he didn't check his PMs.
