Yeah and Valve has the FULL source code to all their games. We have yet to gain access to the Source code for Portal, or the Shaders, If i had the shader source I could edit it to toggle the textures and make the portals processed in DX8 and everything else in DX9. But i dont have access.

Hmm... maybe while you're in the process of making more cartoon-ish portals, see what you can do with the portal gun and cubes as well? possibly cel-shaded or ink-edged?

Yeah I had that idea with CabooseJr, I thought of making Portal resemble TF2 but decided against it as did he.

I may look into it in the future, but right now I am trying to recreate the Pre Release material.

And it is the stuff that I want!

Plus I made my indicators look like Beta Portal, but they are current portal colors. If you want I can make them Beta coded so when people download your Beta pack, (If you plan to get all of your works and put them into one file) they have Beta textures...

I right now made a sourcemod called Portal: Project Beta, I am still working on it, I think I will finish it, then upload it for your enjoyment.

0_o Were did you dig that from. And the indicator strips did not toggle. Portal came a long way. Yeah, If you want them, tell me..

EDIT, I can also make you other things, like the old Orb Catcher and other things.

No animated textures do not require Source Code, at all.

DX9 uses a Noise blur and basically moves it around to create a portal, edit the VMT and remove the noise blur, you remove the animation.

To change the way Portal processes portals, you need the source code, believe me Ive tried as many things as I can.

Like what? Using a noise blur? You could easily make swirls for DX9 with a noise blur, if you had access to the code for the way portals process a noise blur.

I am working on Spirals, but they will be for DX8 people only for now . The issue is their animation does not play AT ALL. instead all the frames show as an opening animation......

On a side note I am reworking my spiral portals for DX9. I have yet to add in the white swirl, my last ones were a bit cartoonish, these will be my better ones.

Here they are so far, dont mind the particles thats just Pelpix's stuff that I like.

I like this one better than the previous one. Can you make it so that the portal aren't just ovals, but like the flamey portal in the real game? Then it would look like the early version of portal.

Um #1 Im using those particles with Pelpix's permission.

2 I already finished a noise blur for DX9 users, and i made it as close to the early portal as possible.
